Run for the Whales

|
Each year, hundreds runners and walkers join in the popular Run for the Whales along the scenic coast of South Maui. This popular running event is at the top of the list of Maui's best attended 5K and Half-Marathon runs. More than 800 runners participated in 2010. Participants received a free race t-shirt, a free post-race breakfast, and free electronic timing (for the 5K and half marathon). Medals were awarded to top finishers. Fees benefit marine education programs for Maui schoolchildren. The Run for the Whales started at a new location this year, Makena Beach & Golf Resort, but traveled along much of the same route as in past years, through the resort area of Makena and Wailea. Parts of the course are oceanside, in areas where you might catch a glimpse of a breaching whale or two as you stride along.
The 2011 Run for the Whales will take place on Saturday, February 5, 2011. Please check back here for more details to be added soon!
