The Run and Walk for the Whales is an important fundraiser for Pacific Whale Foundation’s marine education programs for local students in preschool through high school. Since 1980, Pacific Whale Foundation has provided whalewatches, eco-friendly tidepool explorations and science lab programs in Pacific Whale Foundation’s Discovery Center to thousands of schoolchildren each year. In recent years, Pacific Whale Foundation has offered a special Friday program for middle school students at Kihei Charter School that includes at-sea time on our vessels, learning nautical and navigational skills, as well as scientific marine research techniques. Pacific Whale Foundation’s Project Oceans is a teacher training program that helps teachers incorporate environmental education and marine science into their classes.
