Run & Walk for the Whales
Run & Walk for the Whales 2017 will take place on Saturday, February 4. Hope to see you there!
Mahalo to all participants in 2016's event. As a thank you, Pacific Whale Foundation would like to share photos taken by our staff photographers. All photos are available for download with the option to purchase prints and other products from our online gallery.
Pacific Whale Foundation's annual Run & Walk for the Whales is one of Maui's largest run and walking events. Participants can choose to do a half marathon, 10K run, 5K run, 4K walk, or a 1K run for keiki only (ages 12 and under).
Become a Sponsor
If you, or an oganization you work for, would like to become an event Sponsor, you can learn more about our Sponsorship levels here.
The Run & Walk for the Whales begins and ends at the Ma’alaea Harbor Shops on Maui, Hawaii. The easy-to-follow courses are mostly flat and fast, good news for runners seeking to PR. Participants can often see whales breaching in the distance. The post-race festivities take place in the plaza at the Ma'alaea Harbor Shops and include live entertainment by Marty Dread; a post-race continental breakfast for runners and walkers; discounted whalewatches for race participants; and special discounts at our Ocean Store retail store.
Support a Great Cause
All proceeds from the event support Pacific Whale Foundation's humpback whale research in Hawaii and other parts of the Pacific, marine education programs for local school children, as well as conservation programs including efforts to keep marine debris out of our oceans, prevent vessel-whale collisions, and end whaling worldwide.
The entry fee includes professional chip timing for runners in the 5K, 10K and half marathon, plus clock timing for the 4K walk and 1K Keiki Run. All will receive a “Run & Walk for the Whales” event T-shirt. Water and Gatorade aid stations will be located along the course.
